The "Rennteam"

We are the Rennteam Uni Stuttgart e.V., a Formula Student Racing Team of the University of Stuttgart. For 15 years we have been designing, manufacturing and building a single-seater racing car every season, with which we compete against the international Formula Student teams on the world's racetracks.

We are students from different disciplines, who live their passion for motorsports during their studies and swap the lecture hall for the garage for one year. In this way, we add practical experience to the theoretical content of our studies, establish contacts in the industry at an early stage and - last but not least - make friends for life.

Our greatest successes include four consecutive victories at the Michigan International Speedway from 2016 to 2019. From 2011 to 2015, we were consistently one of the top five Formula Student teams in the world, before topping the world rankings for three consecutive years from 2016 to 2019.

In the past 2020/21 season, we were represented at events in the Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, Croatia and Germany. Our season highlight: The second place overall in the Combustion Vehicle Class at the Hungaroring. Three victories, two second places and three further top-10 results in the total of eight disciplines have made this possible.

WE WANT YOU – BECOME PART OF THE RENNTEAM!

We are always looking for motivated students, who want to become part of our “family”. Get in touch with us via the contact form on our website!

The Greenteam

The Greenteam Uni Stuttgart e.V. was founded in 2009 and currently consists of approx. 65 students from a wide variety of courses. The founding members had the goal to take on the emerging development to a purely electrically powered Formula Student racing car and relied on the already existing experience from the racing team Uni Stuttgart e.V., the successful combustion engine racing car team. From the very beginning, electrification required a comprehensive examination of new topics: Control engineering, power electronics, driving dynamics - these areas demanded a lot of pioneering work from the group of students.
The new, future-oriented competition confronts the students with a new challenge. A racing car has to be developed that can run in autonomous mode without a driver as well as with a driver in manual mode. The Greenteam has an additional team, the Driverless-Team, which deals with Autonomous Driving.
